Janeu Sanskar – The Sacred Thread Ceremony
Janeu Sanskar, also known as Upanayana Sanskar, is one of the most important samskaras (sacraments) in Hindu tradition. It marks the initiation of a young boy into spiritual learning and the responsibilities of Brahmacharya (student life). During this ceremony, a sacred thread (Janeu) is ceremoniously worn over the left shoulder and under the right arm, symbolizing purity, commitment to learning, and a life guided by dharma. It is typically performed between the ages of 8 to 16 and is conducted with Vedic rituals and mantras in the presence of a guru and elders.
